Thought on Berserk - Through 8 Volumes

I'd always been meaning to read Berserk's manga due to a recommendation by Anna.

I like it...a lot of the stuff at this point is nearly identical to the anime. The stuff before the extended flashback is intriguing though...but it tends to boil down to "Guts is cursed...everyone he cares about will be brutally killed. And is."

Knowing the anime, I know that the manga is leading up to that with the flashback. I don't look forward to what Caska's fate will be. Still, the manga manages to be quite a bit funny. There's a surprisingly humorous elf/fairy named Puck in the dark present. And there are comedic characters in the flashback from time to time too. But the manga tends to be really sad but also really thoughtful about humanity. Griffith is both a very caring and ambitious person...but then really scary as well.

It'll be 30 books worth of reading toward my goal for the year and before even the mid-point of the year...it'll get me really close to 50.

Planetes - 3 volumes (already counted)
Cromartie High School - 5 volumes (gonna be 9 soon).
And then Berserk has around 30...

So that would be...38 plus 15...

Umm...just kidding! I know what that is...*uses the Windows calculator*

53. So yeah, I'd definitely be over 50 soon if I want to read through Berserk online.
