The good news was I didn't need to see him to be "seen". I had no interest in seeing him anyway.
Even better, I managed to hand Lavos its ass in the waiting room. And not only that. I managed to get the Developers Ending too (the first one I got was the balloon one with Chrono and Marle and no Epoch).
