Final Word on De Blob
May. 21st, 2009 04:42 pmDe Blob sums up just about every problem that can be brought up about Wii controls. You have a weird control stick that sits apart from the rest of the controller and feels detached. Usually that's fine but you're supposed to make precise moves along platforms that are eventually rounded-like. And then...the flailing with the Wiimote...good goddess...you gesture only to find your blob is clinging to the side of the wall or wedged between a pipe and a building and nothing will get you loose. Still, not much of this really kills the game...the challenge level does. Black ink basically kills you and there is a lot of it. You need to wash it off with sparsely positioned places of water. Which means you're screwed for a challenge. And you have limited lives before the level resets and levels are at least an hour long on the first try.
One thing saved this game for me....the cheat code for invincible. It's the only reason I finished the last two levels. They were insane as to what they ask of you and the ending is basically one minute of the end of Return of the Jedi. Yeah...that was...worth it.
That said, there are a number of fun challenges with the separate modes and multiplayer and free play but after a while...you kinda stop caring because the rewards are just not worth the challenge of flailing all over for hours on end. You never really run out of time. You just kinda run out of patience.
It's not a bad game...it's just entirely aggrevating.
