Dad - I know it sounds like it but the TV is not actually talking to you. Therefore, you need not reply to everything the people in the TV say. Like with the radio. Like with me when I'm quiet.
Mom - I know you changed my diaper for five years. Thanks. Just because I get frazzled now and then doesn't mean I hate you and want you to die.
I actually feel in a good place with Mecchen right now. I'm past the tough stuff. It's open roads, wide open. I just need to figure out the exact words I want. It seems I can only really write when it's past midnight. Like a creative gremlin.
I changed the air filter and my sore throat seems to finally be going away. Now I know...

Date: 2007-07-02 03:12 pm (UTC)Oh be thankful your dad just does that, my mom asks questions and tries to converse about anything on TV/movie screens AS they are playing... "why did he do that?" "do you think he knows that?" "whats that?" "whats that?" "where are they going?" "who is he?"... which is especially annoying for multiple reasons... the first is... she is so busy asking questions out loud every 5 seconds that if she just stop and watch, she'd get the answer. Second: it is exceedingly rude and annoying, especially in movie theatres!!! Third: it is especially annoying when you yourself are watching for the first time and do not know the answers but are as smart as the other 99.9999% of society and know if you continue to watch you will probably get some semblance of an answer!!! and so on... but she thinks it is "all a part of communication" and she had a fit when I asked her to stop once... I was watching the last episode of evangelion for the first time on adult swim and she walked by and started up her spiel... and for any of you who have seen the last episode of evangelion... you know it is hard enough to follow as it is without someone over your shoulder making CONSTANT questions and comments! "oh look how that is drawn" "look how that is rendered" "I could draw like that" "what is going on?" "what are those words for" "who is he" AARRRRG!!!! She doesn't get that you watch to find out! And she doesn't get that with movies and such, you might go with others but you remain politely silent through the movie, and then come out and have a good time socializing about it!
So one time I saw her reading a book and I looked over her shoulder and started up what she does... "Who's that character?" "What is going on?" "What does the title mean?" "Why is that character so angry?" "Isn't that written funny?" ... she got really bothered... even moreso when I told her why I was doing it... she said that it is not the same... but I disagree...
Whether it is a book or a movie... if you have genuine interest in it, you do not want to be distracted from the story by inane comments from the peanut gallery!!!
