@_@...glottal...glide sounds. Adjective clauses and phrases. Affricates and allomorphs. Bilabial (sounds almost dirty). Coordinating conjunction. Ditransitive. Obligatory constituent. And so on...

The part that really kinda worried me on the test was when there was an English sound and you had to figure out what it was (voiced/voiceless/bilabial/etc) based on a big list and some of them were between zero and four of them. I also didn't like the one where you had to figure out a word based on the phonetic constituents and visa versa.

X_X Well...at least I don't have to know all this right now...but it does feel like a lot of memorization.

It's non-intuitive, but it's not as hard as you would think. I reaaaallly wish I could mail Dr. Taylor to you, but I don't think he'd fit in an envelope. ;.;

I'll go through the lectures in order and look up anything I don't know and spew my notes onto here from time to time. But I think I'll make it. I have a lot of time to work at it.

I'm sooo glad I don't have the version of the class where you have to diagram sentences technically by hand.

I am probably the only person in the history of forever to actually enjoy doing that. ^^;;

so like...

determinant = a
noun = zapper

a zapper = NP?
very happy = AP?

A very happy zapper zapped me. Me = indirect object (pronoun)? @_@?

@_@ Wow. Thanks ^^. I'm still not quite there (indirect object eludes me) but I'm glad to be immersing myself (in a fun way) in this stuff ^^.

(S(N''(N'(N I))) (V''(V'(V'(V am)) (ADV'(ADV probably))) (N''(N'(N'(DET'(DET the)) (N'(ADJ'(ADJ only)) (N'(N person)))) (P''(P'(P in)) (N''(DET'(DET the)) (N'(N'(N history)) (P'(P'(P of)) (N'(N forever)))))))) (V''(P'(P to) (ADV'(ADV actually)) (V'(V'(V enjoy)) (MODAL'(MODAL doing))) (N''(N'(N that)))))

... I think. The final infinitive clause is tricky and I don't want to spend that much time parsing your sentence exactly.

It was all online and the link grayed out when I was done. Hopefully, I'm gonna get a version to look over and check for what I got wrong in a little while.

*nods* That's how I got to 14 out of 15 pretty well (not with certainty though). That last O sound tripped me up though.
