If I want to follow some shows...I'm gonna need to watch them online...which is fine...but there is just too much to see...
I checked in on a few here and there tonight and will catch what I missed online.
I was the trio of Monday Night on NBC
Chuck - Nerd gets all the NSA secrets downloaded into his head like the kid from The Navigator. Only it's evil stuff and spies...not star-charts. His sister tries to set him up a lot...and her bf/hubby is "Captain Awesome". Yeah. It was directed by Joseph "McG" McGinty Nichol. So it has that Charlie's Angels vibe. Nerd gets to save the day using something mentioned early in the plop (laptop-destroying porn site)...it doesn't really make sense in parts but it was fun and I liked the actors (Particularly Adam Baldwin of "I'll be in my bunk" fame from Firefly). I liked how Adam looks to be an antagonistic element who will definitely turn out funny. I do worry about the kiss of death the show might get from his presence (he was in Day Break too *bows head*). I'll check in on it again soon ^_^.
Heroes (2nd season premiere) Brought to You By NISSAN...(surprised the 17th century horse wasn't a Nissan horse)
Okay, the show is good. That's a given but is this new episode good? It's sure better than how the show ended in the spring.
Good - Claire and HRG (Noah), Suresh/Parkman, Hiro. I loved the Claire stuff...I dunno. She just looks cutest in gym clothes. It was almost like anime for a little bit for some reason. Particularly when she challenged the preppy girls to an uber-difficult jump. I glad he got to hurt herself again this episode though. It'd been too long since she's had some terrible injury. And she is sooo surrounded by flying people, it's bizarre.
Oh and this needs its own line..
HRG "deals" with COPY SHOP FROM HELL Boss!!! <3 <3
It doesn't get much better than that. Suresh's "alliance" is pretty cool too. And has Ned Ryerson *PUNCHES HIM IN THE FACE*. I think the Heroes Plague will probably be the focus.
Cure the Disease, Save Mankind.
Something like that...that's for the promotions department to figure out. So long as they don't screw over Chuck and Journeyman (which I will get to in a moment).
Hiro was really cute (a given). I can see where they might go with his arc and the shattering of his childhood dreams about Takezo Kensei are a complete fraud. It was cute they didn't bother to translate 'gaijin'... (so geeky ^^) in this case any insulting angle is completely necessary given what a louse the guy is. I have a theory that Hiro will take up the name and mantle of Takezo Kensei and become the legend. Or maybe just inspire the guy to greatness...although that would be hard.
Eh - the Maya y Alejandro arc. I know it'll hopefully get better but what exactly is the deal with these two? They're like the Sanders arc from last year so far. I'm hoping it turns out she's the cause of the disease or the feared-over mutation of the disease.
It ruins a lot of TV shows when you're a writer and you can see what they're going to telegraph from a mile away or you can think of a resolution which is loads better than the one they settle for. Fortunately, Heroes has avoided that pretty well for the most-part.
Bad - Hiro's dad/Ando, The Petrellis. Ando is an errand boy...ugh. And George Takai is chewing scenery. I'm hoping that is ability is close/similar to Claire's, otherwise I'll be quite ticked that his mysteries were never dealt with. Although...the whole scene at the end was rather bizarre...what happened to the guy with Sylaritis (murderousness mixed with the need to cloak your faces). It's odd when EGS turns out to be trend-setter for introducing mysterious peoples. Oh and those 'lovable' Petrellis...not a peep from Nathan about the explosion...how he survived...etc...Although there was a little flash where he saw a scarred face and that did more for me than the whole "I'm hopelessly drunk and not a Senator" bit. Anywho, I'm willing to forgive if there's a lot more beneath the surface and I'm sure that's the case. Oh and Peter lives and he's actually kinda bad-ass now (with convenient amnesia)...that's not really a bad except that we don't get much more than that.
Finally--- Journeyman
I love the main character. He just has that necessary charisma and looks vaguely like a young, blond Peter Weller to me (though others may disagree :-p ).
I really worry this will be one of those quirky shows which dies fast due to the premise.
It has a lot of promise. Okay basically guy jumps around time in San Fransisco...always around the Cafe Luna and the same people. He does the Quantum Leap thing of setting right what has gone wrong...but actually...something has to "go wrong" in this case for things to go right.
It's interestingly-plotted and I hope it retains that sense of cleverness. There's not as much for me to take from this right now but then Heroes was like that when it started. Hopefully this show will be allowed to grow into an interesting thing.
Oh and his dead fiancee is a time traveler too. I love the last moment where he proved to his current wife that he's been traveling through time. It was neat. The next episode looks a little lighter in tone. I don't have as much to say except that Kevin McKidd is sexy and perfect for this. Charisma.
Sooo...that's it. Monday has a lot of TV for me. I won't be able to watch it all the time, so I'm glad that NBC has a decent method for watching it online.

Date: 2007-09-25 09:04 am (UTC)I was glad to see the episode felt like the Heroes I love, and not the sorry excuse for a finale I've tried to forget. Honestly, if they can keep this momentum going and avoid having such a weak sauce ending this season, I'll be a happy viewer.
