I had the unfortunate chance to listen to Dr. Phil on the other TV while I was waiting for something else.

Here's what happened - There's a family. The husband and wife were attacked by a hammer-wielding man in their bed. The event was distastefully reenacted in the program.

What does Dr. Phil do? Offer genuine counseling and help to this couple? HELL NO!

It's free crap time! To promote healing, of course. They took their home and decorated/made over it! *zam* Brand new 60-inch flat screen TV! (providing the names of each of the sponsors in excruciating detail). A state-of-the-art new kitchen! Wow! The youngest kid was really the only who seemed to see through the BS of all this. He wasn't very pleased with his room (despite the fact our smiling, pretty hostess through their new house tried to cover it up with - "he's quite speechless").

By the end of it...both parents had their plastered on smiles like "This makes being brutally beaten by a house invader totally worth it now!" Only towards the end did they briefly mention something which I think would've been remotely-logical to give them...a security system for their house. Which they definitely need now with $300,000 dollars worth of corporation-donated crap.

This is why I try to absolutely avoid daytime TV and about 99 percent of network TV wherever possible...X_X

I'm so interested in hearing what you contribute to society that's "of value".
