I may actually miss Bush.
I highly doubt it but I'm gonna play a little devil's advocate for a while.
Look at the potency of people amassed in opposition to Bush and his cronies and the entire Bush structure. Everything bad about corporate philosophy and neo-conservativism...at the center of things. Exposed by the light of day. Look at how many documentaries have been made about these terrible things. Look at how many voices have come out in opposition to these offenses. Look at the resolve that amassed on the other side and what it has brought to life.
Now, that massive force is going away in defeat. It has tried to transpose mythic images of good and evil over the world all this time and now it has some of those same, mythic labels. It has itself become like a myth of mean and nasty things. But I truly worry that it's power lies instead in the powerful whispers it can tell in the shadows, like it did about so many political figures. That's where you really need to worry about it.
And the side that won (for now) needs to worry about complacency (which I'm glad to see isn't here yet...thanks to the prodding over Obama choices and actions prior to becoming president...although I think it's probably too soon to make clear, contextual judgments about them). And we need to remember Bush and what he stands for, even though he won't be around to show us.
