@_@....*eeeeeeeeeee*
It's just...SO BAD ;_;.
I can't even really say how devastating the plummet is...but here's gist...
Christmas Special Episode - O_o? For some reason...Bubbles sounds like a grating, annoying harpie...after this point. I blame the writing since her yells weren't annoying before. This is a self-indulgent, overlong Christmas episode. That said...it could be worse.
Keen on Keene - Uh...what? Well...this should've been interesting...the Professor and Ms. Keene together...but his part and her part and especially the Mayor's part....are just disingenuous to the characters. The episode is constructed around pretty lame gags rather than being about characters.
Not So Awesome Blossom - Okay...I'll admit...Blossom getting a job at pseudo Hot-Dog-on-a-Stick is rather amusing...but it really makes very little sense. I did like some parts of this episode once they stopped milking...gags.
Power-Noia - One of the damn-few redeeming parts of Season Five. A Freddy-worthy nightmare for the girls, courtesy of Him. Good art and good character stuff.
Monstra-city - *groan* Ug...Okay...whoever is writing the Mayor at this point in the show...you're a Flanderizing moron!!! The Mayor has moved from being a kind-hearted bafoon to a world-class, childish asshole. That said, some of the monster-human co-habiting gags are amusing but the message and feeling of this one just does not work.
Shut the Pup Up - Again, there are a few good gags but the show has become nothing but weak tea gags at the expense of characters. But I was amusing to hear the talking dog ask how the Professor provides for a family of four by tinkering around in his basement. I always wondered that...
Toast of the Town - W...T....F? Did they use some of Mojo Jojo's poo for this episode?!?!?...I really was staring at this episode in stunned silence...the Mayor must've had a stroke to turn him into a 2 year old or something (it's never explained why he acts like a literal baby)...I...I just can't...explain it...it just hurts so much....;_;...why Mr. Writer? Why must you hurt us so!?? *sicks the Real Powerpuff Girls on the writer*.
Divide and Conquer - Okay...at least the Amoeba Boys have always been consistently stupid as dirt. But they also never make for much of a villain on their own...also the case here.
Burglar Alarmed - It's okay...It's not "Toast of the Town", at least. Quietly fight a dumb burglar in your own house so dad can sleep. It's also amusing how the burglar 'threatens' the sleeping Professor.
Shotgun Wedding - OH COME ONNNNN! Granted it's nice to see the Professor doing science...and the documentary style is aesthetically interesting...but a dumb cartoon character falls for a male character in drag? Yeah...X_X *sighs*. Here's what I think the problem is. PPG built itself around character...as American anime...with a quality that impressed me immediately. Season five feels like it was done by slapstick cartoon wannabe writers.
Save Mojo - Closer to normal. Some nice PETA humor...Mojo treated as a protected animal...it's not great but it's better than the turds that floated along before.
Substitute Creature - YES! That's more like it! Breaking stereotypes! Breaking structure! Having fun with characters and the mundane...like a substitute teacher...who seems evil ^^. The manga interludes were cutely surprising...especially since it had teenage versions of the Powerpuff Girls @_@...
The Boys Are Back in Town - At least you can count on Him to pull out a decent episode. Rowdyruff Boys return. And they have full COOTIE IMMUNITY (that part was cute). And they sure didn't pull any punches @_@. The resolution is also interesting. It was a nice episode but with a good bit of fight filler.
Pee Pee G's - The only episode of Season 5 that I really wanted to rewatch. Sure, it's crude but at least it got humor from character places. The 'say "You're in trouble" really fast' gag was dumb and it was mostly just pee pee jokes but it was honest...as with Mojo Jojo rebutting any intricate plans by saying, "Nooo...I just don't like you!"
Aaaand...there's still plenty of Season Five yet...I'm sure I'll still find some diamonds in the rough. Despite the plummet in quality...Powerpuff Girls still very much rocks ^^...they just need to stop messing around with characters for a gag.
