This review first got me to notice the Starfy game.
It's okay...

And you thought Kirby was a cream-puff...
Basically it's a easy-intermediate platformer of a star that has to go...do stuff...in the sea. It's a platformer. You collect star bits. You jump around...your finger dies because the button presses/holds are rather monotonous. It's not un-fun. It's a cute game. It's got some secrets and you can bling out Starfy (why? *shrugs*). It's got some mini-games and some co-op support. It's not bad but it just hasn't impressed me all that much. It's a Kirby-grade platformer without the memorable characters and enemy types. This is just an impression so far.
And then we have Boom Blox 2 (some subtitle which is too forgettable to mention...).
If you played Boom Blox 1...this is Boom Blox 1 but better...if you never played the first one...just skip to this one. It's better. I assure you.
This game solves one of the biggest problems of puzzle games...unskippable levels. Here, you can get Blox bucks to buy your way into later levels and over ones that stump you...thanks EA! Unfortunately for that step forward and out of frustration...they kept the damn shooter levels and added slingshot levels...
Here's the problem with a slingshot on this game...you have no idea to judge your angle because you need to move to check...it would be better if you could lock in a toss...and check the angle for accuracy. With the slingshot it's easy to shoot something high in the air when you wanted to go straight because there's no real shadow to tell you how you're aiming and the Wiimote is so fussy about angle and how far you're pulling back...that it's a bit of a crapshoot. Never enough to fail a level for...but still it's a bother.
All that said...the game is fun but the multi-player is the draw. I'm halfway through the main campaign in an hour or two. It's all about replaying things with friends. Shame that the internet online is nowhere to be seen in this game.
